Lunch Policy

Students enter the area quietly beginning at the prayer gate, say a group prayer right before eating, and enjoy a few minutes of calming down after recess in silence.  The silence is not a punishment, but a chance to become centered after prayer, and to actually get started eating (good for the digestion ).  Students then talk in a pleasant conversational tone, just as they would at home or at a restaurant.   Faculty share that students are actually eating or finishing lunches more often than before, due to the few minutes of silence, and the floor is clean!  The clean floor is attributed to the calm environment and less horseplay at the tables.  The peaceful environment helps digestion and lessens stress,  and students still enjoy socialization and friendships.
