New Family Orientation
Monday, August 10, 9:00-10:30 a.m.

This morning is designed for new families of Pope John XXIII to receive more information about our school operations and ask any last minute questions that you may have.

Orientation for all grades
Welcome Back Ice Cream Social
IMGP0356_0048This morning event is designed for students to visit their classroom, fill their desks and label supplies.  Pre-ordered school supply packets are in each child's classroom.  School calendars, journals, and other supplies are available for purchase in the multipurpose room.  Also, during this time is our Welcome Back Ice Cream Social to welcome Students and Parents.

First Day of School at Pope John XXIII

Need we say more?  Put on that uniform and those white tennis shoes (and maybe some sunscreen).  If you're doing drop-off, please review traffic procedure).  Watch for little ones in the parking lot.  Be careful out there!

All parents are invited to our HSA Meeting which is located in Room 1 of St. Bernadette's Parish.  We share news from members, updating us on events and information.  It is an open forum.  See school calendar for future meetings.

Staff Appreciation Luncheons

IMGP1290_161Each month, our Staff Appreciation board members coordinate potluck luncheons for our teacher and staff.  Typically, one grade level is called upon to provide the homemade goodies.  Notices will be posted in our monthly newsletter, Passages, and by room parents.  Our HSA board members traditionally sponsor the first luncheon.  These will generally be scheduled one Wednesday of each month in the library.

Iowa testing of Basic Skills (ITBS) (Snacks provided by HSA)

If you don't feed your body, you can't fuel your mind.  To help in this process, HSA volunteers not only purchase, but package and distribute healthy snacks to the student body during testing week.

Harvest Festival

The annual Harvest Festival is an event not to be missed.  Great food, games for kids, inflatable games on the grassy field are just a few of the many attractions.  Come to the school and participate in one of the most memorable and celebrated Pope John XXIII family events.

Used Book Sale

This is a good time to stock up on your reading material.  These books are donated from parents of Pope John XXIII and sold very inexpensive to the our community.

Grandparent's Day

This morning is for children to bring their grandparents to school.  They love to show off their school to their grandparents.

Scholastic Book Fair is in the School Library

Stock up on Christmas gifts or just replenish your families reading list.  The scholastic book fair features the best in not only books, but also wonderful and creative gift items.  Shop early - shop often.

Christmas Concert
St. Bernadette's Parish

Come share some Christmas joy with your children, grades K-5 and listen to their beautiful voices as they sing wonderful Christmas music with their class.

Teacher and Staff Cookie Exchange
To help our teachers and staff this busy time of the year, families are asked to provide one dozen cookies, bars or other holiday treats for the annual Cookie Exchange.  Drop off the treats between 8:00-10:00 a.m. in the administrative office.

Catholic Schools' Week Events
"Dividends for Life"

During this week, Catholic schools throughout the nation celebrate Catholic Schools' Week.  On Sunday, January 31, students wear their school uniforms to church.  Watch for information in the school newsletter, Passages, on the week's schedule of events.  Classmates decorate their doors, a school-wide rosary is scheduled and families gather in the courtyard or grassy field for lunch.

Talent Show Idol

Join the Pope John XXIII Community by seeing firsthand the awesome talents of our students.  Students present musical numbers, dance selections, cheerleading routines and all sorts of wonderfully entertaining talents.

Field Day

Our 6th annual Field Day is a morning outdoor event for our students.  Classes compete as teams in fun games and relays all over the campus.  Lunch is provided.  At the end of the day, an awards ceremony is held.  Parents are welcome to sign up to volunteer to join the fun.  Parents also sign up to help tie-dye their children's t-shirts prior to Field Day.

Spring Music Concert,
St. Bernadette's Parish
What better way to celebrate spring than to hear the voices of our children singing?  Grades K-5 will sing a variety of songs in St. Bernadette's Parish Center.  Join the community as we gather to hear the students sing songs of the spring season.
